CSUSB has a leading teacher preparation program that is one of the nation's largest. Moreover, extended education programs in business writing and language skills, technology, entrepreneurship and conference management are some of the state's busiest.

As part of its educational mission the university has adopted a Statement of Commitment to Diversity. The university strives to promote an atmosphere that seeks "to include knowledge and values from many cultures in the curriculum and extra-curricular life of the campus community." The school has a very diverse student body with nearly 30 percent Hispanic enrollment.
