Cooley Godward's litigation department offers a sophisticated practice in a variety of areas, including complex intellectual property, trade secrets, securities, real estate and construction, trade regulation, environmental, commercial and employment disputes, We handle challenging litigation matters in trial courts throughout the country. Cooley litigators include U.S. Attorneys and the firm offers the opportunity to gain trial experience through internship in the District Attorney's office.

Cooley College, our firm's unique, mandatory training program for associates in both our business and litigation departments, has achieved widespread recognition as one of the most comprehensive, rigorous and effective training programs of its kind in the country. We view pro bono work as an integral part of our practice. Administratively, the firm accords pro bono work the same credit as billable hours. Our attorneys regularly staff legal aid clinics that provide free legal services to low-income families and individuals who cannot otherwise afford legal representation.
