The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) is a non-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929 to provide potable water and sewerage services to the Hartford, Ct. region. Today, the MDC provides quality water supply, water pollution control, mapping and household hazardous waste collection to eight member municipalities in central Connecticut— Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor—as well as portions of other towns in the region. The MDC provides water and sewer services to approximately 400,000 people.
We are currently recruiting for the following positions:
CHEIF OPERATING OFFICER
The Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) is a non-profit municipal organization that provides potable water, sewerage services and other environmental services to the Hartford, Ct. region. We are accepting resumes for the position of Chief Operating Officer.
This position manages extensive resources in complex processing operations and maintenance. Work involves directing maintenance, operations, solid waste, water pollution control, and water treatment and supply.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical, electrical or environmental engineering with Master’s level course work in the field; (Master’s degree preferred); supplemented by a minimum ten (10) years progressively responsible experience that includes utility plant or public works experience, including four (4) at the senior management level; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must have a Connecticut Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain one within 60 days from date of appointment.
Starting annual salary is $112,935. Benefits include vacation, sick and holiday pay, health and dental insurance, and pension plan.

DESIGN MANAGER
Design Manager: qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field; supplemented by a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in the design and construction phases of major civil engineering projects, including a minimum of three (3) years experience in a managerial position. Master’s degree preferred. Must have a Connecticut Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 60 days from date of appointment. Must have a valid driver’s license.
