About
the area: The 184.5 Square miles are divided into 3 police districts.
District One is a unique and ethnically diverse community. It
encompasses both an entertainment district, comprised of restaurants,
nightclubs, retail shopping, art galleries and the Scottsdale
Center for the Arts, along with a community of single and multi-family
housing. The police function within this district is well entrenched
into the tenets of Community Oriented Policing and those officers
and employees working within the district have established very
close bonds with the citizens they serve. This district borders
Tempe, Phoenix, Salt River Pima Indian Community and Paradise
Valley. District Two is located in the southern portion of Scottsdale.
District Three encompasses nearly two thirds of the geographic
area of the city and serves 90,000 residents. It continues to
experience tremendous growth in single and multi-family residences,
retail, commercial and light industrial development. It also encompasses
the McDowell Mountain Preserve, a popular and scenic natural reserve
of the Sonoran Desert.
